Driver - CDL (Class A or B)

*Previous fire contract work is highly desired, but not required.  Fire training opportunity is also available, but not required.*

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Bend, OR

Salary Range: $30 - $35 per hour (with experience)

$25 - $29 per hour (with limited experience)

 

Position Summary:

Responsible for safely and efficiently hauling construction equipment, landscape supplies, and other materials to and from customer job sites.

Pre and post trip your assigned truck.

Keeping a daily log of all work performed

Objectives:

• Ensure the safety of oneself, crew members, and others by following all laws, regulations and policies/ procedures set forth by Federal, State, Local and company officials.

• Comply with all company, local, state, and federal regulations governing trucking, including but not limited to driving hours, weight restrictions, permits, load securement and documentation requirements.

• Provide excellent customer service and support to clients, ensuring their satisfaction with the pickup/ delivery process and addressing any concerns or issues raised in a professional and courteous manner.

• Deliver material and equipment to their destination on time, adhering to schedules and deadlines set by the client and Tumalo Transport, while maintaining high standards of efficiency and productivity.

• Maintain effective communication channels with crew members and supervisors, provide timely reports and updates as requested, and ensure the smooth transfer of information required for the job.

• Regularly inspect your assigned vehicle to maintain its optimal performance, efficiency, and roadworthiness.

• Continuously improve personal and professional skills through training, mentorship, and career development opportunities, made available by Tumalo Transport, with the ultimate goal of gaining a leadership position within our organization.

Education & Experience:

• Valid CDL Class A or B license

• Clean driving record and ability to pass a drug and alcohol screening

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in transfer, dump truck, end dump, or equipment hauling combination

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication and problem solving skills

• Flexibility to work occasional weekends or evenings as needed

Competencies:

• CDL drivers must be able to operate a commercial vehicle safely, following all traffic rules and regulations.

• Be able to clearly communicate with customers, dispatchers, other drivers, and shipping/ receiving personnel

• Ability to see and avoid potential hazards on the road and at job sites.

• Manage stress and remain calm under pressure.

• Read maps and navigate unfamiliar areas safely.

• Drivers should have some basic knowledge of commercial vehicle systems to help diagnose and fix minor problems.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting and driving with some walking, climbing, stooping, etc.in between

• Ability to lift 50lbs and use the necessary “tools of the trade” for your assigned duties
